By BREAKING! APC’s Candidate, Kayode Fayemi Wins #EkitiDecides2018
The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced Dr John Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the Ekiti State Governorship Election.
This announcement was made by the Ekiti State INEC Returning Officer, Professor Idowu Olayinka, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. He announced that the APC’s candidate, Dr Fayemi emerged victorious after gathering a total of 197,459 votes ahead of the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Professor Olusola Eleka who polled a total of 178,121 votes.
After reading out to votes scored by respective political parties, he then declared Dr Fayemi as the winner and Governor-Elect of Ekiti State.
It will be recalled that Fayemi had in May resigned from his seat as the Minister of Solid Minerals to pursue his governorship ambition after he was defeated in 2014 by the incumbent, Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Reacting to the official results as released by INEC, the APC’s Agent at the State Collation Centre, Sunday Ajumo declared that there are better days ahead for the people of Ekiti State as he said they will witness a better change.
As at the time of filing this report, Dr Fayemi is yet to release an official statement to acknowledge his victory at the governorship election.
