Nigerian singer Abiola Akinbiyi, popularly known as Bella Shmurda, has claimed he was duped after paying $4 million for a property in Lagos that he later discovered allegedly did not belong to the person who sold it to him.
The music star made the allegation during an emotional Instagram Live session on Tuesday, where he appealed to the public for assistance, saying he was devastated by the development.
According to Bella Shmurda, he invested $4 million of his personal earnings in the property before learning that the transaction was allegedly fraudulent.
“Nigeria, I need your help. I’m not doing okay right now. I spent $4 million of my own hard-earned money, only to find out I bought stolen property,” he said during the livestream.
He added, “And now the seller has disappeared. Please, help me. Someone step in. I’ve got nothing left. I worked for years for this. I can’t lose $4 million like that.”
The singer disclosed that he had engaged his lawyer to investigate the matter and explore possible legal action.
“I just contacted my lawyer for further investigation,” he said.
Bella Shmurda did not identify the individual who allegedly sold him the property or disclose the exact location of the house.
As of the time of filing this report, the claims remain unverified. No law enforcement agency or any individual connected to the transaction has issued an official statement regarding the allegation.
