Banky W, Jide Obanikoro in watertight race
The people of Eti -Osa Federal Constituency and fans of music star turned politician, Bankole Wellington are currently in high spirits as they await the eventual result of Saturday’s polls for the National Assembly.
As at last night, results were still being collated with no official announcement made by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

However, Banky W according to results so far has been impressive as he gives a formidable fight to his rival, All Progressives Congress’ Babajide Obanikoro who is the son of former Nigerian minister and Senator, Musiliu Obanikoro. The PDP candidate, Omotesho Bakare is however not lagging as he gives both Banky W and Obanikoro a run for their money.

Banky W who contested under a relatively unknown Modern Democratic Party has surpassed the expectations of many observers who felt the record label boss was only in the race to make an appearance but many have been left shocked to see how he has advanced to become the leading candidate in the constituency.
At his Lekki polling unit, Banky W came out tops by polling 575 votes while PDP’s Omotesho Bakare who came second got 540. Obanikoro came a distant third after scoring 455 votes.

Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro who has before now unsuccessfully contested for Chairmanship and House of Assembly positions in the Eti-Osa has however claimed victory saying his party has won 8 out of the 10 wards in the Constituency.
“From the results collated so far for the House of Representatives, APC has won 8 out of the 10 wards,” Obanikoro tweeted.
At the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s polling unit in VGC, PDP won the Reps election with 244 votes, Banky W polled 186 while Obanikoro got 167 votes.
