A notorious bandit kingpin, Kachalla Dogo Baldu, has been killed during a clash between rival armed groups in Zamfara State.
Dogo Baldu was allegedly killed by fighters loyal to another bandit leader, Aleru, during fierce fighting in the eastern part of Mada.
According to security-focused publication Zagazola Makama, which reported the incident on Sunday, several members of Dogo Baldu’s gang were also killed in the confrontation.
The report indicated that the fighting was still ongoing, raising fears of further casualties as the rival groups continued their battle.
The clash is believed to be linked to rivalry among armed groups competing for influence and territorial control in the state.
However, the reported death of Dogo Baldu and the number of casualties could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
