In a recent address to soldiers at the 35 Artillery Brigade in Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Major General Mohammed Takuti Usman, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, emphasized the importance of loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and constituted authority.

Amid the backdrop of military coups in African nations, including the most recent one in Gabon, Usman urged soldiers to maintain loyalty and professionalism from the highest level of command down to the rank and file.

Accompanied by Brigadier General Mohammed Tajudeen Aminu, the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Usman warned that the Nigerian Armed Forces would not tolerate disloyalty.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by the Brigade Command but emphasized that these challenges were not unique to their situation.

Addressing the soldiers, Usman stated,

“Your loyalty must start with the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, who is the President. That’s first, and then down the ladder. Loyalty to the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, down to your Brigade Commander.”

He emphasized that loyalty to the constituted authority is paramount and that there is no room for soldiers who do not uphold this principle.

Usman stressed the significance of discipline, loyalty, and professionalism among soldiers, underscoring that their duty is to ensure the safety and well-being of the nation’s citizens.

He also encouraged soldiers to pursue excellence in their roles and responsibilities.

The GOC commissioned the Quarter Guard project at the Barrack during his visit, further emphasizing the commitment to enhancing military infrastructure.

In addition to addressing soldiers, Usman met with Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, who expressed unwavering support for the GOC and the Nigerian Army.

The ruler highlighted the essential role of soldiers in maintaining security and stability within the nation, emphasizing that Nigeria’s safety relies on the dedication and loyalty of its armed forces.
