The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports claiming that its presidential primary for the 2027 general election has been postponed, insisting that the exercise will hold as scheduled on May 23, 2026.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described reports circulating on social media and other platforms about changes to the timetable as false and misleading.

According to him, the clarification became necessary following widespread speculation suggesting that the party had altered its primary election schedule.

Morka stated that the party remains committed to the timetable earlier released by its National Working Committee (NWC).

Under the revised schedule, the sale of nomination forms commenced on April 25 and ended on May 2, while completed forms and supporting documents were submitted on or before May 4.

The party conducted screenings for aspirants seeking tickets for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions between May 6 and May 8. Presidential aspirants were screened on May 9, while screening results were published on May 11.

Appeals arising from the screening process were entertained on May 12 and 13.

The APC further confirmed that its primary elections would proceed in phases, beginning with the House of Representatives primary on May 15, Senate on May 18, State House of Assembly on May 20, governorship on May 21, and the presidential primary on May 23.

The party also disclosed that post-primary appeal committees would sit immediately after each primary election.

Meanwhile, the NWC reaffirmed its adoption of both direct and consensus modes of primary elections in line with provisions of the Electoral Act.
