Alimosho Local Government Has Abandoned Construction of Rauf Aregbeshola Primary School In Shasha – Involve Africa

The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government Area, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon has been alleged to have abandoned the construction of a one-storey building blocks of classrooms at Rauf Aregbesola Primary School.

The statementt was made by Involve Africa, a Pan- African youth driven development organization working to increase and strengthen young people’s involvement in governance processes, social progress and peace building in Africa.

According to Involve Africa, ARUP Engineering Ltd was engaged to develop Rauf Aregbeshola Primary School along Shasha road, Alimosho, under six months but the project has taken more than a year without completion.

“Our social auditors visited the on-going construction of a storey building classrooms for pupils of Rauf Aregbesola Nursery and Primary School, Akowonjo, Lagos funded by the monies of Tax payers in Alimosho Local Government.

“At an observation and interaction with the people of this locality; it was affirmed that this project is already abandoned by the government of Alimosho; this hinders school enrollment rate and leaves some children of Abati area of Shasha of Alimosho Local Government out of School, ” Involve Africa wrote in a statement obtained by BlackBox Nigeria.

BBN also discovered that in the 2019 Appropriation Act for Alimosho LGA signed over three months ago, the school construct was listed as ongoing with no mobilisation to site.

The efforts of Involve Africa to monitor projects in Alimosho LGA is part of the Strengthening Citizens’ Resistance Against Prevalence of Corruption (SCRAP-C) project, an initiative of the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID).
