Yoruba Nollywood actress, Atinuke Remilekun Kareem, popularly known as Atinuke Kareem, has died after battling breast cancer.
This is coming days after veteran actor, Taiwo Hassan popularly known as Ogogo died from cancer.
Her death was announced on Tuesday by Owolabi Ajasa, the Ogun State chairman of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), in a statement shared on Instagram.
Ajasa expressed appreciation to individuals who supported Kareem financially and through prayers during her treatment, saying she died despite efforts to save her.
Kareem had reportedly appealed to the public for financial assistance for her cancer treatment about four months before her death.
In a video shared during her illness, she revealed that her family had spent heavily on treatment and appealed for help, noting that she had two young children.
Her death comes barely over a week after the Yoruba film industry lost veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who also died following a battle with cancer.
Colleagues and fans have since taken to social media to mourn Kareem and sympathise with her family.
