Ikorodu Local Government Area emerged as the second-highest vote contributor to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held across Lagos State, according to the official state result collation form.
This marks the second time the local government will deliver massive turnout of votes for preferred aspirant in the state primaries.
The results show that Tinubu secured 78,049 votes in Ikorodu, trailing only Alimosho LGA, where he recorded 97,720 votes.
Ikorodu’s tally was significantly ahead of other major APC strongholds, including Kosofe (49,709), Somolu (46,024), Ojo (43,488), and Ifako-Ijaiye (43,458).
The APC presidential primary, conducted across all 20 local government areas of Lagos State, saw Tinubu win overwhelmingly with 814,988 votes, representing 99.85 per cent of the total 816,174 votes cast.
His sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, polled 1,186 votes across the state, accounting for 0.15 per cent of the total votes.
A breakdown of the results indicates that Ikorodu was one of only a few LGAs where Osifo managed to secure a notable number of votes, polling 1,127 votes in the area. Nevertheless, Tinubu maintained a commanding lead there with more than 78,000 votes.
The final state collation declared Tinubu the winner after results from all 20 LGAs were collated.
The outcome further reinforces Ikorodu’s status as one of the strongest political bases for the President in Lagos, having consistently delivered substantial votes in major party exercises and general elections.
