After 13 years legal tussle, court favours Amusa as Ijede monarch, rules against Hassan Adefarasin

The Lagos State High Court has ended a 13-year tussle over the stool of the Alajede of Ijede in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.

Delivering the ruling on Wednesday, Justice Akapo declared Prince Kazeem Amusa as the declare rightful heir to the Alajede throne.

The Alajede stool, left vacant after the passing of the late monarch, His Royal Majesty Oba Fatai Adeboye Oresanya, Ladega II, has been the epicenter of a prolonged struggle.

For over a decade, contenders vied for the honor of becoming the next Alajede. Among the ten princes who threw their hats into the ring, two emerged as prominent contenders; Prince Kazeem Amusa and Prince Hassan Adefarasin, a former two-time chairman of Ijede LCDA and member, Lagos State House of Assembly.

Adefarasin was selected as the Alajede-elect by the Ijede Kingmakers. Unsatisfied, Amusa dragged the matter beofre the court in Suit No. IKD/82/2013.

The plaintiffs including Pa (Chief) Olayiwola Saka Owoyele, Prince Babatunde Sulaimon Amusa, and Prince Kazeem Amusa, challenged the legitimacy of Prince Saheed Hassan’s claim.

After careful consideration of the evidence and arguments presented, Justice Akapo ruled in favor of Prince Kazeem Amusa on all three critical issues.
