Super Eagles star and defender, Ola Aina has said he will take another penalty kick for Nigeria against Cote D’Ivoire in the coming Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON final.
Aina said this after he lost a penalty kick in Nigeria’s AFCON semi-final encounter with South Africa on Wednesday.
Although, the Nigerian team triumphed with a 4-2 scoreline, Nigerians were displeased with how the wing-back lost his penalty.
However, according to a post by Steve Vickers, a reporter with BBC, Aina, while speaking with Oluwashina Okedeji of Planet Sports Football Africa, expressed enthusiasm, saying if given another chance, he will take on another penalty kick.
He said, “Football is a roller coaster. I could put my money on it, I could put my house on it, I could put everything on it that I would’ve scored my penalty .
“Normally I back myself because I am very good at them. Someone had to miss unfortunately and it was me.
“The boys and Nwabali saved me and saved all of us and I am just grateful for that. You look forward and if it comes to it again, I will be taking another one, but that is just me.”
The stadium, Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé, is set to have the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire play against each other at 9pm on Sunday, for the AFCON final.
