7 biggest hits from Cobhams Asuquo as he clocks 41

Award-winning Nigerian music producer and singer, Cobhams Asuquo celebrates his 41st birthday today, January 6, 2022.

Though visually impaired from birth, the ace producer has defied all odds to become a household name in the music industry, producing some of the biggest songs in recent times. To his credit, Asuquo has worked with many A-list artistes — both local and international ones.

In this piece, BlackBox Nigeria highlights 5 of his best works that warmed the airwaves in the Nigerian music industry.

1. Asuquo was responsible for the production of singer Asa’s highly acclaimed international album, ‘Asa’. He wrote and co-wrote the songs “Fire on the mountain” and “Mr Jailer” which became major hits then and are still evergreen.

2. ‘If You Ask Me’ by Omawumi was a major hit released in 2017. The song was produced by Asuquo and still remains in the hearts of Nigerians up till this moment.

3. ‘Ordinary People’ was a song written by the producer himself. It was his official debut single released in 2014. The song was very popular for its inspirational lyrics, and described as a testament to the latent power of the common man.

4. ‘We Plenti’ featuring songstress, Simi was a song released in 2019 by Cobhams. It soon became a message of hope and encouragement to Nigerians, telling them they weren’t alone in the struggle for fortune.

5. Released a birthday gift to fans in 2018, ‘One Hit’ was a thoughtful song from the ace producer which captures the desire of up and coming musicians to attain stardom. The 4-minute track also serves as an inspiration to talented folks.

6. Afro Rnb singer, Darey Art Alade’s hit singles, ‘Escalade’ and ‘Not The Girl’ were also produced by Cobhams Asuquo.

7. Faze’s debut album in 2004 titled ‘Faze Alone’ which was produced by Cobhams, alongside other producers such as OJB Jezreel, Paul Runz and Niyola.
