22 soldiers declared wanted by Army for fleeing from Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army has accused one major and 21 soldiers of fleeing from the scene of a Boko Haram attack and subsequently declared them wanted.

The Nigerian army declared the runners as deserters bound to face dire consequences if found, the names of the deserters were however concealed by the Nigerian Army.

Blackbox Learnt that the soldiers fled from a scene of a Boko Haram attack in Gubio, Borno state.

On September 29, 18 soldiers had been killed during the attack on a military outpost in Gubio, Borno state, which is now partly controlled by insurgents.

The Nigerian Army did not confirm the attack or acknowledge any casualties, but senior officers began immediate investigation necessary to establish the level of resistance or damage from troops during the attack.

Following the aftermath, 22 soldiers were unavailable without immediate indication that they were missing in action or seized by Boko Haram.
