2023: Lalong unveiled as Tinubu’s campaign DG

The governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong has been appointed as the Director-General of the presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 elections.

Bashir Ahmad, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, confirmed the development in a tweet on Thursday.

According to him, Lalong was unveiled at the State House in Abuja after the president met with the APC flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

The party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu was also present at the meeting.

“Gov. Simon Lalung of Plateau State has been officially announced as the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, he has just been unveiled at the State House, after the Party chair, its presidential and vice presidential candidates meeting with President Buhari,” he tweeted.

It would be recalled that some reports had said that the Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai had been named to head the APC presidential campaign council. He, however, said the DG had been chosen and would be formally announced.
