2019 Election: Massive Turnout As Babajimi Benson Flags-Off Re-Election Bid For Ikorodu Federal Constituency

If you were a passer-by or an invited guest at the Open Ground Opposite Post Office, off Pasokun, Ita-Elewa in Ikorodu division of Lagos State today, Saturday 12th January 2019, then one noticeable sight that will certainly catch your attention was how community members, party chieftains and supporters in their numbers adorned in orange coloured apparels gathered to grace the official flag-off and re-election bid of Honourable Babjimi Benson of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.

 

The Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, immediately after receiving the flag of the party as presented by the Vice Chairman, Lagos East Senatorial District of APC, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, as the official flag bearer at the forthcoming Federal House of Representatives polls, thanked the people for first honouring him by giving him their mandates to represent them in 2015 which he made the most of by bringing about community development, execution of key projects alongside legislations that favoured the masses.

Hon. Jimi Benson further assured that there is still more to be done if re-elected into office for the second term as he called on all party faithfuls to ensure they propagate the gospel of every APC candidate at the elections and ensure they also vote enmasse.

 

“I call on you all to make sure you vote APC candidates right from President Muhammadu Buhari as President, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Lagos State Governor, Honourable Bayo Osinowo as Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Babajimi Benson as House of Representatives member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade as member representing Ikorodu Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly and finally Hon. Saka Solaja as member Ikorodu Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” Babjimi charged.

 

While commending the laudable efforts of Babajimi Benson in the Yoruba dialect, the seating majority leader of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila referred the Ikorodu Federal lawmaker as a brilliant young mind that has shown commitment in the representation of his people. He finally tagged Ikorodu as lucky to have such a passionate son and asked them to return him to the National Assembly to continue the good work he has started.

In his address, the Majority leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, Hon S.O.B Agungbiade debunked the news that there is division within the party structure and assured that they are all united to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people in their re-election bids.

 

Former Lagos State Deputy Governor and a party chieftain, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, poured his fatherly blessings on Jimi Benson and appreciated him for always carrying the people along and urged the people to vote continuation.

 

“Nothing goes on in the House of Representatives without our knowledge. We have no regrets voting him in 2015. There is still work to be done. He is going back and we will do more.” He Expressed.

 

In similar vein, the Director General of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Independent Campaign Group (BOSICG), Mr Tayo Ayinde called on the people to ensure a clean sweep for the party at the polls, to engage in house to house campaign as Babajimi Benson remains the only option. He finally reassured that the Sanwo-Olu campaign train will soon be in Ikorodu.

 

The event which featured a brief Music performance by Fatai Valentine had in attendance all the six Local Government Area (LGA) and Local Council Development Areas Chairman LCDA) of Ikorodu division, party faithfuls and chieftains like Mr Gafar Bolowotan, Princess  Aderenle Ogunsanya amongst others.
