The Nigerian music scene has been thrown into mourning after the untimely demise of Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, popularly known as Oladips. The rapper passed away at the tender age of 28.

The news of Oladips’ passing was officially confirmed by his management on Wednesday, revealing that the rising star breathed his last on Tuesday evening.

Here are 15 things to know about Oladips

1. Oladips’ real name is Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji.

2. He was born on March 24, 1995.

3. Oladips was born in Ogun state, Nigeria, a state predominantly inhabited by the Yoruba people.

4. Oladips graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Jos, Plateau State.

5. His unique and creative style of rapping set him apart in the Nigerian music industry.

6. He began his rapping career at the age of 17, showcasing his talent with a cover of Drake and Trey Songz’s “SUCCESSFUL.”

7. In 2015, he won the “King is Here” competition organized by D’banj, a pivotal moment that marked his entry into the mainstream music scene.

8. His victory in the contest led to a record deal with Edge Record (LRR) in 2016, owned by rapper Reminisce.

9. Despite initial plans to join Olamide’s YBNL, he ended up with Edge Records due to concerns about having similar styles with Chinko Ekun.

10. Oladips was known for his impressive performances and was recognized as one of the top 5 indigenous rappers of the year by NaijaLoaded in 2011.
