IKORODU KILLING: SOB AGUNBIADE TO LEAD LEGAL TEAM AGAINST POLICE

In effort to assuage the family of Adijat, the victim shot by a reckless police officer few days ago at the Adamo area of Ikorodu, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade has initiated a pro bono case to ensure that the arrested police officer is brought to book.

Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade who is also the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly while commending the Area N Commander of the Nigeria Police Force who paid a courtesy visit to the family of the bereaved expressed that it was not enough for the alleged police officer to be detained but brought to book.

In achieving this, the majority leader revealed that he has invited the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Ikorodu Chapter to join him in ensuring the speedy prosecution of the detained police man.

 

In his words,

 

“I commend the crisis management efforts of the Area N Commander of the Nigeria Police, who today paid a condolence visit to  the family of the deceased in company of some respectable community leaders.

 

“That, not being enough to assuage the frailed nerves and battered emotions of the late adijat’s family, I, today invited the Nigeria Bar Association, (NBA) Ikorodu Branch to join me in ensuring that the prosecution of the detained police man should not only be for justice to the society but also to the victim ( late Adijat ), and her family in consonace with the new sprit of administration of  criminal justice Law  in Lagos State.”

 

Agunbiade in a  statement availed BlackBox Nigeria yesterday, also revealed that the NBA chairman, Mr. Akinlade Bayo had replied him in the positive assuring that from today, Friday March 22nd 2019, the concerned police command will be communicated to provide legal representation as the case heads straight to court.

 

“Gladly, the NBA chairman Mr. Akinlade Bayo, has replied, assuring me that the Ikorodu NBA will from tommorrow, Friday 22nd March, communicate to the police its preparedness to provide legal representation for the deceased family and hold watching brief in the prosecution.

 

“I will also join the legal team that will serve pro bono. Thanks to the leadership of Ikorodu Branch of NBA.”
