The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has cautioned Nigerians to stop using the popular 2024 slogan, “No gree for anybody”, saying it is a risky and provocative statement that could spark violence in the country.
It was gathered that the Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, gave the warning on Wednesday while addressing the press and displaying 67 suspects nabbed for various offences.
While giving his speech, he said, “No gree for anybody” is a slogan originating from a radical group that may pose a threat to Nigeria’s stability.
He said, “I want to reiterate on this matter that the new slogan for 2024 for our youths is ‘No gree for anybody’, and we have gathered from our intelligence that this slogan is coming from a militant group that may create trouble across the country.
“‘No gree for anybody’ may sound like a harmless expression but in the security circle, we have perceived it as a very dangerous slogan that can ignite a conflict.”
He further stated that the slogan will not work if a person is being arrested by the police, as it may lead to further damages.
As the world entered 2024 with the New Year celebration, Nigerian social media platforms were flooded with “No gree for anybody,” a slogan in pidgin language that means stubbornness or defiance or no compromise.
The slogan has been embraced by youths on social media for 2024 and has been trending, especially among young Nigerians and celebrities.
