BlackBox Nigeria has learnt about a young couple in one of the South Eastern states of Nigeria who just separated due to what has now degenerated into irreconcilable differences.
According to a close friend of the couple, the marriage of two years packed up because the wife refused to change her identity from her maiden name to her husband’s.
The husband had asked his wife to edit her social media handles to reflect that she was married to him but the woman wasn’t having any of it.
In her defense, the lady refused saying it will dislodge her followership and brand identity. It is, however, not clear what the wife does for a living which might be the reason she blatantly refused to edit her profile to her husband’s surname.
According to Iyke Orji, a friend of the husband who also shared the story, the only place where the woman was recognized as being married to her husband was on their marriage certificate.
The two-year union has now been dissolved as the lady insists she would rather quit than change her identity. This separation is reportedly coming after an unending debate over the topic since they got married.
