Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has criticised Apostle Arome Osayi over his identification on a promotional flyer for the upcoming Cameroon For Jesus Crusade and Conference.
The controversy centres on the flyer for the Christian gathering scheduled for September 30 to October 4, 2026, at the Omnisport Stadium in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Apostle Arome Osayi is listed among the ministers billed to speak at the event alongside other preachers, including Nathaniel Bassey, Gideon Odoma and ministers from Cameroon.
According to the flyer circulating online, flags were used to identify some of the ministers, with Nigerian ministers carrying the Nigerian flag. However, Osayi’s listing did not carry the Nigerian flag.
The omission prompted a reaction from VeryDarkMan, who questioned why Osayi was not identified as Nigerian, particularly following his recent acquisition of permanent residency in the United States.
“You just got U.S. residency, and you’ve already dumped your identity,” VDM said while criticising the cleric’s representation on the flyer.
The criticism comes about two months after Osayi publicly announced that his application for permanent residency in the United States had been approved.
In a statement reported in July, the founder of Remnant Christian Network said he and his wife had received approval to become U.S. permanent residents after what he described as a long period of trusting God for the approval.
Osayi also announced plans to return to Nigeria for ministry engagements in Lagos, Warri, Uyo and Makurdi.
Osayi’s ministry has maintained a presence in both Nigeria and the United States. Remnant Christian Network is headquartered in Makurdi, Benue State, while the ministry also operates in North America.
The latest criticism has also revived discussions around Osayi’s previous comments concerning Nigeria’s national identity and purpose.
In a sermon referenced in recent reports, the cleric discussed what he described as the different “callings” of nations, contrasting Nigeria’s spiritual role with China’s emphasis on manufacturing and technological development.
VeryDarkMan’s latest criticism centres on what he sees as a contradiction between Osayi’s Nigerian identity and his representation on the Cameroon event flyer.
However, it remains unclear whether the omission of the Nigerian flag was made by Osayi himself or by the organisers of the Cameroon event. The flyer does not, on its face, establish that Osayi personally chose to be identified without a Nigerian flag.
As of the time of filing this report, Osayi had not publicly responded to the criticism over the flyer.
The Cameroon For Jesus Crusade and Conference is scheduled to hold from September 30 to October 4, with Osayi among the ministers announced for the programme.
