A woman identified as Ade De Gold has reportedly faced a fresh allegation of baby theft in Ibadan, Oyo State, with a resident claiming that the incident is not her first encounter with such allegations.
The claim was made by a social media user who said he knew De Gold personally and that she previously operated a daycare in front of his family house in Iwo, Osun State.
According to him, De Gold was close to his late father and had at one point sought his assistance in obtaining documents to standardise her school.
The writer claimed that his father declined to assist her because, according to him, she did not possess the required educational qualifications.
He further alleged that about seven to eight years ago, De Gold was accused of stealing a baby.
The writer said De Gold claimed she had been involved in an accident at the time and was pregnant, adding that his parents visited a hospital to check on her following the claim.
He also alleged that De Gold was later arrested in Ogbomoso over another alleged baby theft.
According to the account, the incident occurred when De Gold’s own baby was about three months old. He claimed that she left her child in Iwo and travelled to Ogbomoso, where she was allegedly arrested over the disappearance of another baby.
The latest allegation, according to the writer, occurred in Ibadan.
He questioned how De Gold was released after the alleged previous incidents and whether she had ever been charged before a court.
“Was she ever charged to court? Is there anyone working with her or protecting her?” the writer asked.
He also expressed concern about what could happen if she was released again, asking where she might be in the next two years.
The writer urged the relevant authorities to investigate the latest allegation thoroughly and establish whether there is any connection between the reported incidents.
However, the allegations concerning the previous incidents have not been independently verified, and it was not immediately clear whether police or court records exist to substantiate the claims.
Authorities are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the latest allegation and disclose whether the suspect has been arrested, charged or released.
