Why I failed to perform at Tanzanian show, Kizz Daniel breaks silence

Nigerian singer, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe professionally known as Kizz Daniel has given reasons why he failed to perform at a paid concert in Tanzania.

The ‘Buga’ crooner was arrested on Monday after his alleged refusal to perform at the Summer Amplified Concert on Sunday night where he was the headliner artist.

Following his absence, fans had angrily thrashed the concert venue, as seen in videos which surfaced on social media.

The show promoter, Steven Uwa had also carpeted Kizz Daniel for giving a flimsy reason for failing to perform as planned.

But with the intervention of the Federal Government, the Nigerian singer has been released by the Tanzanian police.

Addressing a press conference in Tanzania, Kizz Daniel narrated his side of the story, saying he missed the plane which was supposed to take him from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam.

He said he waited for eight hours in Nairobi before he eventually got a connecting flight, and upon arriving his destination, he learnt that the airline forgot some of his belongings.

“I tried contacting the designers here to get clothes. When I decided to leave the venue, I was told it was unsafe already. The fans got angry,” he said.

The hitmaker said his team informed the organisers of the situation, and they agreed to apologize to fans and organise another show.

“On the second day, news spread and the police followed me to the hotel, not to arrest me but to question me about what happened,” he said.

Apologizing to Tanzanians, Kizz Daniel said he never meant to disrespect his fans, promising them that he had agreed with the organisers, Str8up Vibes to put up a free show on Friday.

He said, “I didn’t mean to disrespect the fans. It was never intentional. I wanted to perform. I came to Tanzania to perform, but due to some circumstances way over my power, we couldn’t make that happen.

“I apologise once again to the people of Tanzania, and I hope you guys give me another chance to give you a show, to give you a proper show, a beautiful show.”
