‘We wish him the very best’ — Council chairmen replies Odofin of Ikorodu over alleged incompetence

It appears a war of words has ensued between the six council chairmen in Ikorodu Division and the Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, over the latter’s allegation that they are incompetent.

Speaking recently at the Business Community Breakfast with Ayangbure organized by the Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Ogunsanya who is the Chairman, Multi-Choice Nigeria berated all the six council chairmen in Ikorodu Division for their absence at an event where issues of business and development of lkorodu were being discussed.

“Our Local Government Chairmen are totally incompetent. They have failed woefully,” he declared.

The senior lawyer, who chairs the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited, also accused the chairmen of ignoring his calls to be a part of the initiative set up to address security challenges in Ikorodu Division.

In what may be considered a reply, the six council chairmen have declared that against the widely held belief, they are performing well in the areas of security.

They made this known on Tuesday during a Joint Peace and Security Committee meeting with leaders of the security architecture in Ikorodu Division, announcing the creation of the Ikorodu Division Security Trust Fund (IDSTF) in conjunction with the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).

A joint press statement was read by the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina in the presence of his counterpart — Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Chairman, Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA); Builder Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA; Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA; Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, Chairman, Ijede LCDA, and Hon. (Prince) Wasiu Kunle Agoro, Chairman, Imota LCDA.

Builder Sesan Daini, while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the statement, declared that the six council chairmen had nothing against the Odofin of Ikorodu and his group.

“We wish him the very best,” Daini said.
