‘We aren’t competing with anyone’ — Odofin Ogunsanya declares at launch of Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative

In what may be considered a clarification, the Chairman of MultiChoice Nigeria and Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya has cleared the air over the mission and purpose of the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPILG) LTD/GTE.

Speaking at the formal launch of the community security outfit and Local Joint Task Force on Wednesday, Ogunsanya who chairs IDPILG stated that the initiative wasn’t created to usurp the power of existing security outfits.

“Let me state for the avoidance of doubt that, IDPILG isn’t in competition with the Nigeria Police and other statutory security agencies rather, we are partners in Progress towards securing our communities,” he said in his speech.

The epoch-making event had in attendance all royal fathers in Ikorodu, political office holders, representatives of government-owned security outfits, among other dignitaries.

The major highlight of the event was the presentation of patrol vehicles and motor bikes to the LJTF operatives and security agencies in Ikorodu Division in order to assist them in carrying out effective surveillance of the entire communities.

This comes barely 24 hours after the six council chairmen in Ikorodu Division declared illegal the activities of all private security outfits, vigilantes, and other entities which aren’t registered or officially documented with the local government and the local council development areas where they intend to operate.
