Babajimi Benson, member House of Representatives, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, was, on Monday, in the company of internet sensation group, Ikorodu Bois, as they were hosted by Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The young group is formed of 3 biological Brothers and 2 cousins; Muiz Sanni, 17, Malik Sanni, 11, Fawas Aina, 15, Ishola Abdul Ganiu, 17 and Babatunde Sanni, 24 — who helps edit the videos and manage the stars.
They are known for remaking, mimicking and recreating multimillion-dollar music videos, movie scenes and movie trailers using ordinary household items.
The lawmaker, who is also the chairman of the house committee on defense, described the group as “one of the best products Ikorodu Division has produced in recent times.”
“Ikorodu Bois is the definition of Ikorodu to the world. Keep sailing guys. We are proud of your exploits,” he said.
The group went viral earlier last year after they recreated the trailer for Extraction, an action-packed Netflix movie, starring actor Chris Hemsworth.
In August 2020, they were sent a series of high-tech camera equipment, including Boom microphones, tripods, voice recorders and even an Apple iMac computer from streaming giant Netflix.
Ikorodu Bois recently appeared in a Netflix advert displayed in Times Square, New York City after bagging a nomination in the 2021 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in the ‘Favourite African Social Media Star’ category. They, however, lost to Nigerian kid comedian, Emmanuella.
