The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is set to make a crucial decision today regarding the cases of malpractice and irregularities that marred the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
This significant development comes on the heels of the announcement by the former WAEC boss, Mr. Patrick Areghan, who, in August, revealed that a staggering 263,803 results had been withheld due to widespread malpractice and irregularities.
During his statement, Mr. Areghan stated,
“Out of a total of 1,613,733 candidates that sat for the examination, the results of 262,803 candidates are being withheld due to reports of cases of examination malpractice.”
Earlier today, in a tweet from the official WAEC handle, it was revealed that the 76th Meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) had convened to deliberate on these contentious issues stemming from the 2023 WASSCE for School Candidates.
