Vote Or Risk State Of Emergency- Oduah Warns As IPOB Issues Death Threat
Anambra North lawmaker, Senator Stella Oduah has called on Anambra State voters to troop out on November 18th to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
The former Minister of Aviation warned that failure to vote in the election could lead to the declaration of State of Emergency in the State.
Oduah’s warning is coming days after agitation group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) threatened the voters with death should they participate in the election as they vowed to disrupt the election.
Reports gathered had it that IPOB on Friday marched around some notable streets in Onitsha, vowing a lock down on the day of the election.
Senator Oduah while addressing journalists in Abuja on Sunday charged political leaders in the State to enjoin their followers to come out and vote in the upcoming exercise.
She said, “Our constitution does not allow for half-a-minute space between the incumbent tenure being over and the next tenure. Therefore, if we fail to come out and cast our votes to have a new governor, what will happen is that the Federal Government will provide an administrator and declare a state of emergency.
“It means that democracy will elude us. The administrator that would be governing us would not be who we voted for or who we desire; that is not what we want.
“Therefore, we must not allow ourselves to be disenfranchised; we must make sure that we come out on November 18th and vote.”
