Villarreal signs ex-Arsenal coach, Emery, on a three-year deal

La Liga Club, Villarreal has handed former Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, a three-year deal.

He will succeed Javier Calleja, who left the club earlier this week.

Emery, 48, led Villarreal’s rivals, Valencia, into the Champions League earlier in his career, and he has been out since parting ways with Arsenal last November.

A statement from Villarreal says it reached an agreement with Emery for the next three seasons, as a reputed coach with significant experience in international football.

After the Europa League successes of 2014-2016, Emery won Ligue 1 and the French Cup with PSG, before succeeding Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in 2018.

He led the Gunners to the 2019 Europa League final, but was sacked by the London club after 18 months.
