VIDEO: Protesting Beninoise Destroy Properties At Nigerian Embassy In Benin Over Border Closure
Some aggrieved Beninoise has gone to the extent of damaging properties at Nigeria’s embassy in Benin Republic.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the violence protest was as a result of continuous closure of the Nigeria-Seme border which has been shut by the Federal Government of Nigeria for some weeks.
It was learnt that the closure which was aimed at ending the smuggling of commodities, especially rice into Nigeria has caused more pains to the people of Benin Republic as several items usually smuggled from Nigeria has suffered due to the closure.
It will be recalled that Femi Adesina, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media had disclosed in a statement that the closure of the border was to boost the sales of locally produced rice as the smuggled products was making it impossible for the growth of locally grown rice.
According to the video now making rounds online, the aggrieved Beninoise attacked the Nigeria’s embassy and destroyed properties, including the nation’s flag hoisted in the facility.
