Former Olympic champion, Usain Bolt has hailed Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan who won gold in the 100m hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, on Sunday.
The 25-year-old took the first position after she finished in 12.06secs, smashing her world record time of 12.12secs in the semi-finals. However, her feat will not be recognised as a world record due to the over 2m/s wind speed.
While Amusan earned Nigeria her first gold in the history of the World Athletics Championships, Jamaica’s Britany Anderson took silver in 12.23secs, and Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico claimed bronze in 12.23secs.
As praises continue to trail her victory, Usain Bolt has also hailed the Nigerian athlete for her history-making outing.
Taking to his Twitter page on Monday morning, the former Jamaican sprinter — one of the biggest sports stars in the world — described Amusan as “superb”.
“Superb 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬 #Tobi,” he wrote.
