The United States Mission in Nigeria has warned Nigerians about scammers who are using the EducationalUSA name to extort payment for placement into Ivy League colleges through the EducationUSA programme.
According to a press release by the US mission on Monday, these fraudsters are targeted at sending fake emails and social media claiming to facilitate admission to a non-existent Ivy League programme.
It explained that the fraudsters begin by soliciting membership fees and the seek to increase contact.
“To be clear, EducationUSA services are free to aspiring students. Do not pay money to anyone asking for fees”, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate in Lagos warned.
The Embassy added that the official source for information on EducationUSA is www.educationusa.state.gov
