Carol Monaghan, a distinguished member of the United Kingdom Parliament, has voiced her strong opposition to the recently implemented visa policy in the UK, which prohibits Nigerian students, as well as other international students, from bringing their family members as dependents, unless specific circumstances are met.

During her address to the parliament on Wednesday, Monaghan emphasized the significant contributions made by students to the UK’s economy. She highlighted that international students enrich the fabric of British society across all sectors, including healthcare.

Monaghan stated, “International students play an invaluable role in bolstering the economy of the United Kingdom.”

In a video that quickly gained traction on Thursday, the esteemed lawmaker further expressed her concerns, saying, “It is important to recognize that many students who come to the UK have aspirations beyond their studies and wish for their families to be an integral part of their experience.”
