UAE Lures PhD Holders With 10 Years Golden Visa

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday approved the issue of a 10-year golden visa to professionals which include engineers, physicians, PHD holders in order to keep ‘talented people and great minds’ in the country.

“Brothers and sisters, we approved today a decision to grant the 10-year golden visa to residents in the following categories: all PHD holders, all physicians, engineers in the fields of computer engineering, electronics, programming, electricity and biotechnology, graduates from UAE accredited universities who scored Grade Point Average, GPA, of 3.8 and above,” Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum tweeted.

“Today, we approved granting the 10-year Golden Visa to all PhD holders in the UAE. Also, the Golden Visa will be granted to top graduates from UAE-accredited universities with a GPA of 3.8 and above,” he added.

The UAE Golden residency will also be offered to professionals specialising in AI, big data, virology, epidemiology & UAE’s high school top graduates and their families.

Taking to Twitter, Ruler of Dubai said that the country was keen to ’embrace talent that drives future development and this is only the beginning.’

The changes will occur from December 1, 2020.

The new Golden Residency categories expand the programme to further encourage innovation, creativity and applied research, adding to the appeal of a career in the Emirates for the world’s brightest minds, a Gulf news report stated.

The UAE cabinet approved the decision in an effort to lure in talented professional from various fields of expertise.
