South African Grammy-winning singer Tyla Laura Seethal, popularly known as Tyla, has removed Lagos from the schedule of her APOP World Tour following growing calls by some Nigerians to boycott her planned concert over the recent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.
A review of the singer’s updated official tour itinerary on Friday confirmed that the Lagos concert, initially scheduled for December 22, is no longer included in the list of tour dates.
The revised itinerary retains performances across Europe, North America, and South Africa, but Nigeria has been dropped from the tour.
The decision comes only days after Tyla announced the APOP World Tour, with Lagos originally listed as the sole Nigerian stop.
The tour is expected to conclude with performances in Cape Town on January 4 and Johannesburg on January 9.
The cancellation follows widespread backlash from some Nigerians, who called for a boycott of the concert in response to renewed reports of xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerians and other foreign nationals in South Africa.
Neither Tyla nor her management has issued an official statement explaining the removal of the Lagos show.
