Two Police Officers Die In Zamfara State Governor’s Convoy Accident

Not less than two people have been confirmed dead in the convey accident involving the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle.

One Aminu Usman, a police inspector and Sergent Nura Mohammed have been reported to have been the two deceased officers it the accident in an accident.

The two police men who were attached to the governor lost their lives along the Funtua/Gusua where the accident happened at about 6 pm on Thursday.

The Director-General on Press Affairs to the governor, Yusuf Idris stated that the deceased had escorted the governor to Abuja on a five day official trip.

The Director, speaking further, disclosed that one of the vehicles in the convoy broke down in Zaria while returning.

“The duo was among the seven persons left behind to oversee the repairs of the broken-down vehicle before coming to Gusau.

“About two hours later, the governor got the sad news that the left behinds had been involved in an accident while driving in a heavy downpour.

“They were withdrawn from the Funtua General Hospital where they were receiving treatment to a referral hospital for maximum care service under the governor’s supervision.

“The doctor was directed to update the governor on the progress of the treatment”

Governor Bello Matawalle had condoled with the families of the late policemen and also offered to shoulder all medical bills of those hospitalized.
