Twitter goes agog as three Africans dominate UFC divisions

Francis Ngannou claimed the UFC heavyweight championship after defeating Stipe Miocic with a series of ferocious punches on Saturday night at the UFC 260, Blackbox Nigeria reports.

Francis,the first UFC heavyweight champion from Africa has now joined the likes of Kamaru Usman, the UFC welterweight champion and Isreal Adesanya, the UFC middleweight champion.

With 2 Nigerians, and 1 Cameroonian dominating the 3 divisions of the UFC as Champions, Nigerians have taken to the bird app to celebrate the trio.

Francis Ngannou, born 5 September 1986, is a Cameroonian mixed martial artist.

He currently competes in the Heavyweight division for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the current UFC Heavyweight Champion.

He is known for being the hardest recorded puncher in UFC history.

As of March 23, 2021 he is 13 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Israel Mobolaji Temitayo Odunayo Oluwafemi Owolabi Adesanya, born 1989 July 22, is a Nigerian-born New Zealand professional mixed martial artist, and former kickboxer and boxer.

As a mixed martial artist, he is currently signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the UFC Middleweight Champion and has a record of 20-1.

In kickboxing, he is a former Glory Middleweight Championship title challenger.

As of March 23, 2021 he is 5 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Kamarudeen “Kamaru” Usman, born May 11, 1987, is a Nigerian-American professional mixed martial artist, former freestyle wrestler and graduated folkstyle wrestler.

He currently competes in the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the reigning UFC Welterweight Champion.

Usman was also The Ultimate Fighter 21 tournament winner.

As of March 23, 2021 he is 2 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings.
