Trump Evacuated After Gunfire Scare Near White House Correspondents’ Dinner

U.S. President Donald Trump was rushed to safety on Saturday night after gunshots were fired near a high-profile event attended by top government officials in Washington, D.C.

The incident occurred during the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner held at the Washington Hilton, where Trump, members of his cabinet, and over 2,000 guests had gathered.

According to authorities, a gunman opened fire near a security checkpoint, triggering panic and a swift response from the U.S. Secret Service.

Secret Service agents immediately evacuated the president, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other senior officials from the venue.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as attendees were ordered to take cover while security personnel secured the area.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the suspect, reportedly armed with multiple weapons, was quickly apprehended.

One Secret Service agent was struck during the incident but was protected by a bulletproof vest and is expected to recover. No fatalities were reported.

Following the scare, the event was abruptly cancelled, with authorities citing security concerns.

Trump later confirmed that he and other top officials were safe and praised law enforcement for their rapid response.
