Napoli is reportedly in talks with Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, regarding a new contract for the forward.
This comes after the Italian club clinched their first Serie A title in 33 years. According to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, the club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is personally handling the negotiations.
Despite interest from other top European clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich, De Laurentiis is determined to keep the Nigerian international in Naples.
He reassured Napoli fans last week that Osimhen won’t be leaving the club this summer.
Osimhen’s excellent form this season, with 23 league goals under his belt, has made him one of the hottest properties in European football.
The 24-year-old’s performances have put him in the running for the Serie A golden boot.
Napoli signed Osimhen from Lille for €75m plus various add-ons in September 2020. The Nigerian’s current contract with the club runs until June 2025.
Speaking on the negotiations, De Laurentiis said, “We are working on renewing Osimhen’s contract, and I’m confident that we will reach an agreement soon. Victor is a fantastic player, and we want him to stay with us for many years to come.”
