It was a dark Sunday after at least 22 people were found dead in a popular nightclub in South Africa.
According to local reports from Daily Dispatch, the police and emergency services were alerted in the early hours of Sunday to respond to the emergency which occurred at the Enyobeni tavern in East London city.
It was said that some bodies were found lying bizarrely in the floor, while others appeared like they slumped across chairs and lying over tables.
The victims were identified as young adults aged between 18 and 20 years. The cause of the tragic incident is still under investigation, according to police authorities.
However, there are speculations that the patrons were either exposed to poisonous substances or a stampede happened.
South Africa news medium, News24 reported that the Eastern Cape Department of Health disclosed the bodies have been taken to various state mortuaries, and post-mortem examinations would get underway “as soon as possible”.
