On account of the disagreement surrounding the forthcoming convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his displeasure over the party’s internal crisis while calling out party members to put all hands on deck in their preparation for the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking at an interview session with NTA on Wednesday, Buhari warned against the uncoordinated state of the party which he said can cost the party retaining the presidential seat.
“Those who want power must work for it. If the APC can’t agree on the convention, the opposition will naturally take over,” the president said.
Due to seeming cracks in the party, the APC is yet to fix a particular date for the convention. However, governors within the ruling party and some bigwigs are reportedly weighing up the option of a consensus candidate for party chairman and this was said to be the reason for the delay.
