The Indigenous People of Biafra has pleaded for global actors to come to its aid against the Nigerian government claiming that the FG has embarked on a killing spree of its members who were agitating in a peaceful manner.
In Press release obtained by BlackBox Nigeria, IPOB wants the United Nation, the United States of America, European Union, African Union and other international bodies to investigate the killing of its members during the Operation Python Dance embarked upon by the military.
The statement which was signed by IPOB spokesman, Emma Powers claims the group has been peaceful and law abiding in its fight for the actualization of Biafra but the Army has been killing and kidnapping their members unjustly.
“Since the inception of this present Biafra agitation championed by IPOB, nobody can testify or state where IPOB was involved in criminal activity, but Nigerian soldiers have been abducting, maiming and killing our members, starting from August 30, 2015,” the statement read.
IPOB further requested that the National Assembly investigates the killings, “We would be very pleased if National Assembly members could come and investigate this recent massacre in Abia and Rivers states. IPOB engaged in several peaceful protests and rallies across the globe without any record of violence or breakdown of law of any sort within the country called Nigeria.
“We are calling on the United Nations, European Union, African Union, Economic Community of West African States, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, United States of America, Israel, Russia, Britain, Germany, France, to come and investigate the ongoing killing of unarmed and innocent members of IPOB and the invasion of the IPOB leader’s country home at Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia, Abia State by security operatives.”
