Tems features on official soundtrack for Black Panther sequel

Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems has again gained international recognition after she got featured on the soundtrack of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.

On Sunday, Marvel Studios released the official trailer of the blockbuster sequel to the 2018 movie, “Black Panther” which tells the story of T’Challa, formerly portrayed by Chadwick Boseman, who passed away at age 43 in 2020 following a four-year fight with cancer.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is billed for release on November 11.

In the two-minute teaser, Tems performs a beautiful cover of Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry” before the soundtrack transitions to Kendrick Lamar’s 2015 song, “Alright”.

For the award-winning musician, it’s another big milestone in her career, coming weeks after her historic emergence as the first female Nigerian singer to win the Best International Act award at the 2022 BET Awards.

The 27-year-old recently made headlines after she was credited as one of the songwriters in “Renaissance”, the forthcoming album of American superstar, Beyonce.
