Tecno Mobile Keeps Promise, Doles Out Cash Prizes, Mobile Phones, Others To Mark Children’s Day

The 2017 Children’s Day celebration is one that several children across the country will not forget in a hurry as leading smartphone manufacturer Tecno Mobile decided to take their annual Children’s Day celebration to major cities across Nigeria.

This year’s activity marked the brand’s 4th consecutive year of awarding scholarships to top performing kids. Though previous editions of the scholarship focused on rewarding high flying kids across the country one city at a time, however this year, the mobile brand resolved to simultaneously reward youngsters in government primary and secondary schools across the country.

The activity was titled “I Am The Future”greeted selected schools across the country where the brand distributed books and other stationary to the pupils. Interestingly, exams were conducted for the children and the most outstanding ones were immediately awarded a N100, 000 scholarship award.

Among the winners for this year’s N100,000 scholarship award were Saliu Sakayamu of Majolate Primary School, Odi-Olowo, Ilupeju, Tom Divine of Ilupeju Primary School and Hamzat Quadri of Community Primary School Ilupeju, Mushin LGA of Lagos.

Asides the cash prizes given to the pupils in Lagos, winners from schools in Delta State were also rewarded with some mobile devices. The winners from Secondary School got a Tecno W3 device while the 1st runner-ups each went home with a Tecno Y2 and then the 2nd runner-ups got iFlux lamps.

The contribution of private and government stakeholders in the educational sector should never be exhausted due to the dynamic nature of education and its importance to nation building.

Thus, it is important to mention that while the government is expected to assume more responsibilities for the growth and development of our children, private entities should also play a more inclusive role in salvaging the future of these young ones like Tecno Mobile is already doing so that they will be able to compete with their counterparts in other parts of the world.
