Sweepers’ Audit: LAWMA Terminates Contract of Erring Agents

The Lagos State Waste Management Authority, Friday, announced the immediate termination of all street-sweeping briefs awarded to some companies.

The termination is sequel to the involvement of the companies in practices violating their contracts, Blackboxnigeria gathered.

The Waste Authority also revealed that the recent audit exercise approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu exposed the ill-practices of the agents, assuring that services will be repositioned for greater efficiency and value for tax-payers.

The announcement, which was contained in a statement issued by the Agency on Friday, noted that the termination of the contracts was informed by established cases of unethical behaviour.

The statement maintained that all employees of the affected companies could re-apply directly to the Authority for employment consideration.

It also informed that as part of LAWMA’s rebranding process and efforts to sanitise operations, the management has approved the restoration of single apparel as uniform for all street sweepers in order to enable easy identification of genuine workers.

“Consequently, any sweeper or agent who wears any apparel other than the overall uniform approved will be termed an impostor and summarily dealt with according to the laws of the State”, it added.
