José Peseiro has stepped down as the Head Coach of Nigeria’s national team Super Eagles after nearly two years in charge.
The Portuguese gaffer, who led the Nigerian side to a silver medal at the recently concluded AFCON, confirmed his departure in a statement on his X handle on Friday.
He described his stint as “22 months of immense dedication, sacrifice, emotion, and enormous enthusiasm.”
Peseiro, who resumed as head coach in May 2022, finished runner-up in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, losing 2–1 to hosts Ivory Coast.
