An unidentified man jumped into the water from the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, as confirmed by eyewitnesses, on Tuesday.
Onlookers gathered at the scene to assist with rescue efforts while the official rescue team was alerted, as the police cordoned off the area.
A witness, Temitope, tweeted about the incident expressing concern for the person’s well-being.
She wrote, “depression is real tbh Someone just jumped into the Ikoyi link bridge water right in front of me, not quite long. Hope he will not be lifeless before the rescue team arrives.”
Another tweep Temitola said: “Someone just jumped down from Ikoyi Link Bridge. People are tired fa.”
The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the occurrence and mentioned that their officers are present to manage the crowd until other rescue teams arrive.
