What began as a musical performance about 4 weeks ago when Omoniyi Temidayo, a famous rapper nicknamed ‘Zlatan Ibile’ performed at Obafemi Awolowo University Amphitheatre has left the university deserted for fear of the unknown.

It will be recalled that during the performance, cultists wearing yellow uniforms allegedly stormed the show with the aim of disrupting it but were stopped by OAU students resulting into the beating and arrest of these alleged cultists who were about seven in number.

Consequent upon this, two days later a message was posted and shared around on OAU WhatsApp pages of a malicious intent to attack students by members of the cult group today, June 1, 2019.

This sole message has led to a chain of events in OAU and Ile Ife as a whole, in which students have crafted a Game Of Throne themed slogan for the June 1 threat -“Winter Is Coming”

Though the University through the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Mr. Babatunde Oyatokun, said the University is on the situation and urge students to go their normal businesses, students have decided to stay away from the school premises to avoid stories that touch the heart. As at last night, most areas where students often converge to read where deserted.

“The university is working on it, we are working on it. Any step taken cannot be publicized, ” Oyatokun said in his concise response to the impending invasion.

Some student who posted their views on Twitter and captured by BlackBox Nigeria said the University Management has reportedly beefed up security on the University’s main roads, entrance and exit gates, however, students were still seen leaving campus in droves to avoid a recurrence of what happened in 1999 in the University.

@numa_emmi wrote on Twitter, “Actuality that students are scared and worried of the threat in #oau is tiring and burdensome, with the harassment by security officials this might lead to the calamity happening without the pioneer perpetrators #winterinoau”

@dkingwillz also wrote “Never have I seen the campus this dry and damp, with no single person. So I began to  wonder, where did all those Shana boys and girls go #WinterInOAU”
