Speaker Denies Spending Public Funds To Celebrate Mother’s 90th Birthday In Dubai
The House of Representatives Speaker, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila has refuted claims that he used public funds to lavishly celebrate his mother’s 90th birthday in far away Dubai.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Lanre Lasisi, the Speaker called out Sahara Reporters, the online media outfit that exclusively reported the Dubai birthday celebration on Monday.
According to the statement by Lasisi, the birthday of the Speaker’s mother, Alhaja Lateefat Olufunke Gbajabiamila was strictly a family affair as it had no lawmakers nor politicians in attendance and as such, no public funds expended.
It will be recalled that the media was agog on Monday when SR exclusively reported that it discovered that the Speaker transported and housed about 300 guests in a Dubai hotel for his mother’s 90th birthday party which was saidasted for 3days.
