Sowore Compares 2027 Campaign to Spain’s World Cup Triumph, Predicts Victory Over Tinubu

Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has likened his 2027 presidential movement to Spain’s victorious team at the just-concluded FIFA World Cup, describing it as youthful, vibrant, ambitious and ideologically driven.

Sowore made the remarks in a post on his X handle, while criticising President Bola Tinubu, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and Nigeria’s electoral process.

According to him, the APC relies on “old tactics, cheap fouls, and what many know as INEC’s poor officiating” to remain in power.

Drawing an analogy with the World Cup final, Sowore predicted that the 2027 general election would end in victory for his movement despite what he alleged could be attempts to manipulate the electoral process.

“The 2027 general election will be like that World Cup final. No matter how many goals INEC disallows, the outcome will leave Tinubu and his team dazed,” he wrote.

He further alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alongside security agencies including the Nigeria Police Force, the military and the Department of State Services (DSS), could be used to influence the election, but insisted they would not stop the AAC from emerging victorious.

“In the end, the Nigerian people will triumph over the rigging machine known as Tinubu,” Sowore stated.

He also noted that a video predicting the outcome of the World Cup final had been released days before the match, suggesting that unexpected outcomes are possible.

The Presidency, the APC, INEC and the security agencies mentioned by Sowore had not responded to his allegations as of the time of filing this report.
