Singer, Omah Lay arrested in Uganda

Nigerian singer, Stanley Omah Didia, who is popularly known as Omah Lay, has reportedly been arrested in Uganda for flouting COVID-19 rules and guidelines after he held a controversial concert in Kampala.

Omah Lay had performed at The Big Brunch, which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda on the night of December 12, 2020 and was arrested for breaking the country’s Covid19 rules and guidelines.

Police mouthpiece attached to Kampala Metropolitan area, Luke Owoysigyire confirmed that Omah Lay was arrested together with the manager of the venue where he held the event as well as the events manager that contracted him.

“Nigerian Artist Omah lay has been arrested by Katwe police, the manager of the venue, Dungu Ivan and the Events manager, Prim Kasana are also in custody. More details to follow,” Owoyesigire said.

His arrest was instigated by a public outcry by Ugandan entertainers who castigated the Police for allowing an international artiste to hold a concert while the local ones are denied.
